SEO Copywriting
Jan 17th
When you type the words “seo copywriting” into Google, thousands of articles and provider websites come up. But how many of them are truly useful? Is seo-friendly copywriting the standard? Are all copywriters now seo-savvy? In truth, if you are looking for a professional seo copywriter, you’re going to need to shop around.
There are thousands of seo optimization firms that masquerade as copywriters – which can put them in the lead as far as search engine saturation and rankings. SEO optimization indisputably brings in the traffic to your website. Without it, you’d be lost in the never ending ocean of websites. It’s tempting to hire an seo firm to simply set up your keyworded content, submit your website, and let it go. This is a sad mistake for online businesses to make – once the traffic is delivered, they lose sales. A healthy dose of marketing awareness is the true goldmine when it comes to seo-savvy copywriting services.
Look at the work of some of the top seo optimization firms. Do it now. Google ‘seo optimization’.
SEO firms tend to be rather wordy – they’re pressing the limits of search engine ratios. They know that as an seo firm, their goal is to get a website into the top of the search engine results. Once they’ve done that, they’ve completed their job. They aren’t there to write sales copy or think of a catchy, brand-building slogan. They are there to help you feed machines – not brains. Unfortunately, an seo firm just doesn’t have the marketing savvy to create website content that draws in the essential components of marketing: emotional draw, a compelling message, and an irresistible offer.
Would you ask an seo optimization firm to write your print brochure? Help you plan a script for your tv commercial? Would you ask them to compile a media kit for potential investors? Of course not – that’s not what they specialize in. SEO optimization companies specialize in communicating with search engines – not people.
If you are looking for the “sell factor” – that’s where good copywriting comes in. A techie that knows how to blanket a website in keywords doesn’t specialize in creativity and ingenuity. That’s bad for you because those are the things that make your products stand out, increase your response rate, and drive sales. SEO optimization firms rely on keyword saturation – an often complicated algorithm that checks to see how many of your keywords are being read by Google. Keyword saturation is a great tool to tinker with search engine results – but it’s not necessarily the tool you want to exploit when you’re trying to persuade consumers to truly connect with what you’re offering. (And connect with them in such a way that they come back for more.)
So, what do true seo copywriting services do for my website?SEO copywriters focus first on the message, then the translation to Google. They are expert translators that make a smooth transition from search engine language to customer-centric language. They write your copy with seo keywords in mind (a 2-7% keyword ratio, which is the standard) but they still add style and voice to what you’re selling.
A good seo copywriter steers clear of cookie-cutter product descriptions but still manages to slip your keywords in there for Google and Yahoo to read. They know how to build your brand and your company image using professionally written, believable copy. They are the essential component of a true search engine marketing campaign – they give your company a voice that stands a cut above the rest.
Your website has a voice, and seo copywriting services should build a clear message
The voice of your company is the language on your website – all of the words, product descriptions, link hover text, and meta data that the search engines pick up and deliver – and humans end up reading. A seo copywriter will strike a balance between using keywords and promotional words effectively. They don’t sacrifice quality for the sake of a higher saturation rate. They want copy that is exciting to read – and pulls sales. They want to keywords to simply be integrated into high-pulling content.
A good seo copywriter will know that headings and titles are just as important to the search engines as the people that visit. They know the importance of bold and bullets to make reading easier on the eyes for your computer-weary customers. They also know that Google finds it easier to read as well.
An seo copywriter is a hybrid of both creative ingenuity and tech-savvy – satisfying both search engines and the curiosity of your prospects. They want results that convert into high search engine results, as well as higher sales volume.
Why SEO?
Jan 10th
If there is a place in the Internet that is frequented by web users, it is definitely the search engines. Search engines like Yahoo, Google and Bing continue to be the haven of full-packed information. Millions of people make a stop here and begin surfing the Internet.
SEO plays a vital role in the lives of webmasters. This is the process that they all have to adhere to for them to become successful. SEO helps millions of sites survive the toughest competition. They can either fail or succeed just by the keywords they use. This is how stiff the process is.
Search engine optimization is a long process and it needs to be thoroughly understood. It is the best way to get an exposure in the vast world of the world wide web. If you think you can live without SEO, think again. I assure you that you will barely step into the first level without it. If your website utilizes SEO, you are sure building a great foundation, especially if you are, at the same time, creating informative contents.
In order for you to maximize the use of SEO, you have to optimize your site page by page or content by content so that they can get ranked individually giving you more exposure in search engines. Optimizing your website in just a single attack is not at all a good strategy. However, this strategy will need you to exert more effort as this can be very time-consuming and exhausting. Well, as the saying goes, “no pain, no gain”.
Some of you might be wondering how a website can get exposure from search engines. The answer is simple. If your website appears in search engines, especially if it’s on the first page, people will instinctively click your link, which means that you are inviting traffic to your site. Attracting people to your site means that your contents will likely be viewed. People who have visited your site are your market and they’re what you need.
SEO is a much more aggressive way of advertising a business as compared to the traditional way. Its reach is wider as it is able to tap the whole world. The transmission is a lot faster and easier.
Being able to occupy the top list of search engines really means a lot to businesses. This definitely means better sales, bigger profits and more prospective customers. This is why websites are dying hard to be in that position.
SEO vs PPC
Dec 13th
Which is best?
To be honest, it is up to you, your website and your niche. Neither is ‘better’ than the other, both have advantages, and disadvantages, whilst in use. Many people will use both techniques together to get the best results, even paying for PPC whilst being at the top of the natural listings.
The facts about PPC
PPC is immediate - The big advantage of a PPC campaign is that within minutes of setting up the campaign you can be seeing your advert in position and sending you a lot of visitors. You do not need many skills, just a budget to spend on advertising.
PPC can be expensive – The big problem though is that you are paying for every visitor. Yes, you can switch off the adverts as you need to, but every click is costing you more money. And in some niches, these clicks can be very expensive and costing you a fortune.
You have to be careful – You need to be aware about how you set up your advert. Be too optimistic with the keywords you use or don’t write the advert carefully enough and you could be getting everything wrong and costing yourself a small fortune.
The facts about SEO
Nothing is guaranteed – This is the main problem with using SEO techniques. You can get it all badly wrong and never see any results. Even getting it all correct could see you sitting somewhere on page 2 and not getting any hits.
Natural listings are clicked on more often – You only need to look at the keyword tools to see the difference between the count of monthly searches on your favoured keywords and the predicted number of clicks to realise that many people just do not click on paid adverts. Being top of the natural results will give you many more visitors than the top positions of the PPC adverts.
SEO may not be a recurring cost – depending on how competitive your search terms are, once you get to the top of the listings you might just be able to sit back and watch the visitors coming in. You might just need a slight ‘top up’ once in a while if your terms are very competitive. You can even start spreading your work to additional keywords once you start to see success.
So, which is best for you?
Do you want visitors now, or are you willing to wait for results? Have you an unlimited budget or are you wanting to do the work yourself without spending any cash? Can you afford to find out in a few months that your time has been wasted? Those are the questions to ask yourself.
10 Reasons to use an SEO Company
Dec 6th
It crosses every webmaster’s mind anytime they see an ad or an email for search engine marketing. Many small business owners wonder what they’re missing by not doing it. So should you hire a consultant? Search engine traffic make up at least 85% of all traffic to a website. So of course, search engine optimization is very important. But what, if any, will be the consequences of doing it yourself? Would it be beneficial to a website owner to hire a professional SEO consultant, or just plod along and hope that they are doing it right? This is a valid dilemma to face, and I will show you why it should be an easy decision. There are ten reasons why hiring them would be to your benefit.
1. Time
Search engine optimization takes great amounts of time. Research, linking strategies, directory submissions, and page analysis alone are hugely and painstakingly time consuming. Do you, the small business owner, have the time required to give search engine optimization your full attention? Or do you need to be spending your time elsewhere; such as running your business? An SEO consultant has the time to dedicate fully to your project. That’s what they do.
2. Writing Copy
Many webmasters, when beginning to design a website, concentrate on design, graphics, and a lot of the fancy code to make a website pretty. Many webmasters write their content copy almost as an afterthought.
What actually generates listings in the search engines is what your website has to say. When a potential visitor is searching the web, they use words to find what they need. So you need words to get your site in those search engines. And this means writing content-rich copy. Your website text should be the most important aspect of your website, and not last on the list. Yes, people are visually stimulated. Search engine spiders are not. In fact, all spiders only take into account the text on your page. A search engine spider cannot read what useful information you may have put into an image or into a video. And relying upon that ALT tag to get those spiders to understand what is in your image is quite an illusion. Lately, some of the spiders are skipping the ALT tags altogether, as a few unethical webmasters and SEO companies have tried to manipulate this area of a webpage with keyword stuffing. (Keyword stuffing is the needless repetition of a keyword or keyword phrase in order to get higher ranking on search engines.) It only takes a few bad apples to ruin the entire barrel. I’m not telling you to completely disregard the ALT tag, but if you rely solely on this to get a search engine spider to understand what your page is about, you will fail.
So if text is so important, why would you place this at the bottom of your priority list? A good SEO consultant has the experience with what content is relevant to your site, and just how to say it. Sometimes, an SEO expert will even outsource this job to a professional writer. This makes complete sense, as this is the most important aspect of any website.
3. Expertise
A good SEO consultant knows that there are up to 100 things that a search engine will factor in to determine how useful and important your website is, and thereby ranking it accordingly. You can rely upon your SEO consultant to be familiar with all aspects of these factors. SEO is not rocket science by any means, but careful planning, research and plugging those factors into a page can be a delicate process. If you are unsure about how your efforts will turn out, then you can feel comfortable knowing that your SEO expert knows what they are doing. Do you? SEO consultants can act quickly to the ever-changing world of optimization. They don’t rest on their laurels and expect that one avenue of advertising is going to improve your traffic rank. There is no secret formula to magically making your site appear at the top of the search engines. What there is, however, is strategic planning and research, along with tried and true methods of optimization.
4. Long Term Effect
Pay per click (PPC) advertising is extremely popular, as it is relatively flexible within the web site owner’s budget. But the minute you stop paying for those clicks is the minute that the traffic stops. PPC makes a great short term solution, or even a supplemental addition to regular traffic, but you can’t expect that this will suffice for the long term. This is why search engine optimization is so vital to the life of a website. Sure, you may be paying for that SEO consultant’s services now, but once their job is done, you can expect your traffic and conversion rates to continue long after your SEO consultant has gone on their way.
5. Search Engines are Unforgiving
You need to get it right the first time. Search engine optimization, while ever-changing, is not trial and error. The information you find on the internet is not always accurate, and you may take one piece of bad advice and find yourself banned forever. Is this a risk you are willing to take? An SEO expert knows exactly what to do, and what NOT to do. There are a lot of techniques that webmasters used to use that would skyrocket them to the top of the search engines. Now, those same techniques are definite banning offences in the world of SEO. Your consultant will know the difference. SEO is a puzzle of research, research, and more research. One wrong puzzle piece and the entire picture is in jeopardy.
6. Budget Guidance
A search engine optimization firm can guide you in where your resources should go. Whether you have only a small marketing and advertising budget, or the sky’s the limit, your SEO consultant can get you the most bang for your buck. To experiment with your resources on advertising avenues through trial and error is very risky and will be very expensive. Your SEO consultant can save you the headache and heartache of risking your hard earned cash on experimental advertising, as well as hundreds, maybe even thousands, of dollars.
7. Product Knowledge
If one search engine could deliver all the traffic alone to your site, then you wouldn’t need an SEO consultant. You wouldn’t need to invest time, money or energy in research either. But there are so many search engines out there, and one may be better than another to target traffic to your individual niche. You can rely on your SEO consultant to know where you can receive your qualified traffic.
8. Fresh Perspective
If you’ve developed your website yourself, or even if you have hired a web designer and developer, chances are that you’ve been looking at it long enough to have possibly missed a few things. Now, we are certainly not trying to demean your work or that of your developer. Quite to the contrary: you’ve heard that saying, two heads are better than one? Well 5 heads are better than two, and so one. Each new team member that you bring in to concentrate on their area of expertise can bring enlightenment every time. It’s always good to get a fresh perspective, and an SEO consultant can bring that to your site.
9. Effective Keyword Analysis
You need to know exactly the right word combinations that will bring qualified visitors to your site. Even with search engines like Goto or Yahoo! Directories, where you can buy your rankings, knowing the right keywords can end up saving hundreds or thousands of dollars in unqualified click through charges. An SEO can find these for you. Gone are the days that you could just put a bunch of words into your meta tags, and a visitor could type that word into the search engine, and your site appears in the listings. Search engine algorithms are far more complex, and you can actually hurt your rank by including the wrong key phrases.
10. Value and ROI (Return On Investment)
Dollar for dollar, search engine optimization is still the most cost effective way to market your website, so your money is well spent with an SEO consultant. Do you pay now for long term effects, or do you pay over time for short term, immediate results. Within a short period of time, you will find that you’ve eventually spent the same amount of money, but with the short term solutions, like banner advertising, Overture, or Google AdWords, you have to KEEP paying in order to achieve the same results, thus by passing the investment you could have made with an SEO consultant. So in short, search engine optimization pays for itself quickly. An investment into the long reaching effects of search engine optimization will pay you back many times over.
The Bottom Line
For every 100 of your current visitors, 85 of them will find you through search engines. Unless you have lots of time, understand exactly how the search engines work, can write effective copy and key word combinations, can sort through all the misinformation on how to correctly market your site, and can get it all right the first time without spending a dime, then you need an SEO consultant for the long term rewards that search engine optimization can bring you. Your investment in the future of your website will be worth while. You’ll be glad you did.
Changes to Google Places and how it affects local SEO
Nov 29th
Google has recently rebranded its ‘Local Business Centre’ to ‘Google Places’ while also making some radical new changes to the product.
These adaptations are being rolled out steadily. Depending on the search term and the location, you may or not see them yet or only see them on some search queries.
The main new change is Google Place has become a new way to search. Once users have entered their search query, the first page of results will show a list of options for refining the search on the left-hand side of the page. The list may include images, videos, or books. Now, Places is one of the options. This should help speed and refine some searches.
There are other changes to the way search results are shown which will make any decent SEO Company check their online campaigns. Google Place Search has now replaced the mapped listings and also the places listings push the rest of the organic listings below the fold. SEM agencies will now need to ensure that their client’s sites are added to ‘Google Place’.
Research will now have to be made to see what factors will affect where your site is ranked in the Google Places system. Reviews from other sites and listings in local directories are the main suggestions for improving rankings.
The fact that a well optimised site that was once top of the first page can now be pushed down to eighth! Which means digital marketing agencies will have to alter their local search engine optimisation campaigns, and fast before the new system is rolled out completely.

SEO for Christmas
Nov 2nd
As a business owner you need to think ahead if you are to make the most of the festive season. This is particularly true in the field of SEO. It can take some time for changes to your optimisation strategies to have an impact – so if you want to really boost your sales this Christmas you need to start thinking about SEO now.
Why is seasonal SEO important?
Competition for custom is particularly fierce during the festive period. Although consumer spending obviously jumps, it can be more difficult for less established businesses to get their slice of the pie.
Conversely, though, in the current climate an increasing number of customers will be willing to shop around for a good deal, rather than stick with whichever outlet they most commonly choose. This creates some interesting and potentially valuable opportunities for online retailers. If you want to seize these opportunities you need to increase your visibility – and SEO is the primary means by which most online retailers can achieve this.
Concentrate on keywords and link building
Chances are you have already identified this year’s ‘must have’ product for your sector. This is one of the most important keywords on which you should focus. You can help your cause by writing themed ‘linkbait’ blog posts, and developing internal linking strategies using the name of that product as the anchor text.
Generally speaking, you should also avoid using the manufacturers’ standard product descriptions on your website. These are seldom written with SEO in mind, and they can severely damage your optimisation efforts. Instead, concentrate on writing carefully constructed product descriptions that hit all the relevant keywords.
Blitz your social media
Social media is an increasingly important aspect of any marketing campaign. Think about ways that you can use tools like Twitter and Facebook to drive traffic and boost conversions.
Think about PPC
Given that Christmas really is just around the corner, you may not have time for your optimisation efforts to kick in. In these cases, pay-per-click (PPC) advertising will really come into its own.
Keep conversions in mind
Finally, you should always keep in mind that the purpose of your campaigns is not just to drive traffic. Instead, you should always be aiming to convert leads into sales. In order to improve your chances of doing so you will need to optimise not just your content but also the website itself.
Facebook and SEO
Oct 19th
On Tuesday WebProNews reported that Facebook had been granted a search based patent. This was good planning even though they applied for the patent back in 2004.
Facebook is no longer, and hasn’t been for a while, a place for university students to chat and share photos, it’s become a society. A mini culture that, not only groups of friends join but businesses and brands. If it continues to constantly attract companies to its Pages section then Facebook will have a lot of search authority.
We’ve been talking about Facebook and its SEO potential quite a bit over the last few months and I don’t know if I’m in the minority but I am not a massive fan of Facebook. I find it annoying, frustrating and not that intuitive. I don’t think by becoming a search engine it would improve or make me want to use it more.
I think the people that use Google, Yahoo and Bing are of a broader demographic than the people that use Facebook. If a receptionist needs to book a hotel for their boss in a Birmingham are they going to log into Facebook and have a look through there or are they more likely to do a quick search in Google/Yahoo/Bing? The answer in my opinion is quite obvious…..The search engines.
So although I think Facebook would have potential as a search engine I don’t think it could ever steal Google’s crown. It could steal the younger internet users who are attached to their accounts but never take the SEO kingdom.
SEO is Here to Stay!
Oct 8th
Google’s press conference about Google Instant hadn’t even ended yesterday when the question of “is SEO dead” started coming up on Twitter, in blog posts and was even asked about formally during the event’s Q&A (the answer was no, twice over, by the way).
No, Google Instant isn’t killing SEO. In fact, nothing’s going to kill SEO. I know there are a lot of SEO haters out there who wish this were so, but that hate comes from a fundamental misunderstanding of what SEO is about. If you misunderstand something so much as to hate it, you surely have no understanding about its future.
No, SEO is not about tricking search engines, nor spamming links, nor ruining web design. It’s about building good content, understanding the ways people might seek it — including the words they might use — and ensuring the content is search engine friendly along with being human friendly.
If we’re going to examine if reports of SEO’s death are premature, let’s start with a common definition, which I’ll draw from Search Engine Land’s own What Is SEO / Search Engine Optimization? primer:
SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” It is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” listings on search engines.
There are these things called “search engines.” They are services that allow you to locate information. There are big search engines like Google. There are little search engines like Urbanspoon.
SEO is about understanding how these search engines get their information and what should be done to gain free traffic from them. SEOs — and search marketers in general — understand the process of search, and they tap into that process to attract visitors.
What isn’t SEO? Narrow definitions:
- SEO doesn’t mean getting traffic just from Google.
- SEO doesn’t mean getting traffic just from web pages that are in Google.
- SEO doesn’t mean getting traffic just from keywords that were entered into Google. Shaking your phone to get Urbanspoon’s restaurant results is a search.
Google Instant is simply people searching at warp speed. Rather than getting their search results during a search session that might take several minutes, now they might get their answers within a minute. But they’re still searching. They’re still getting results. And those results can be influenced by SEO, just as they always have.
SEO Secrets
Sep 27th
Every business owner I consult with views a Google first page listing as the holy grail of online business marketing.
It’s rare to discuss any business growth strategies without someone complaining they can’t get their products & services on the first page on Google.
Google web page SEO secrets of listing on Google first page outlines strategies for the first page of Google. This Google website page first technology placement is achievable.
I consult for several different business across 42 different countries and I have noticed a definitive shift in conventional business marketing during the last three years.
Business owners are becoming more comfortable with internet business and e-commerce trading. I have noticed a sharp increase in the number of conventional businesses making the transition to an online presence.
And why not. E-commerce offers all businesses a tremendous opportunity for exponential business growth by tapping into additional complimentary revenue streams that they could not access in a conventional business.
One should think of search engines as contemporary dinosaurs, i.e. huge monsters who dominate the world of online marketing. In reality Google is the biggest meanest search engine in the land. This is why business owners and marketing specialists are keen to achieve a Google first page listing.
Google Web Page SEO Secrets Of Listing On Google First Page # 1 Natural Organic Listing
A first page of Google on the left side of the Google website page, is what is referred to as natural or organic listing.
Whenever customers search for a product or service on the Google submit page and land on the Google results page they are 4 to 6 times more likely to buy from a search engine organic listing than from a sponsored link or Pay Per Click listing.
In relation to first technology, the first page on Google is king. Some business consultants refer to this concept as pages Google.
Google Web Page SEO Secrets Of Listing On Google First Page # 2 Pay Per Click PPC
One of the quickest ways to get on the first page of Google is to invest in a pay per click marketing campaign to run on the Google website page.
In no time at all you can rise up the first page on Google by simply paying more than your competitors.
One of the best kept SEO secrets is that a new business can place higher on the PPC Google results page than a huge competitor who has been trading for many years. From a first technology perspective PPC advertising on the Google submit page offers many added value benefits for your online marketing campaign.
Google Web Page SEO Secrets Of Listing On Google First Page # 3 Search Engine Optimisation SEO
SEO on the Google website page is one of the best kept SEO secrets. Unfortunately many online marketing companies exploit what is known as first technology.
By this I mean many SEO specialists prefer to baffle conventional business owners with first technology black art terminology.
Some SEO marketing companies deliberately mislead non techie business owners by informing them they need a lead time of anything from 9 to 18 months to achieve a natural first page of google listing for your products or services.
In reality if you know a trust worthy SEO specialist he or she can get you a natural organic SEO listing on the first page on Google in a week and sometimes less.
Google Web Page SEO Secrets Of Listing On Google First Page # 4 Top 5 Listing
When business customers search via the Google submit page a top five listing on the Google results page demonstrates a sense of confidence in online buyers.
This is known in first technology parlance as positioning ‘above the scroll on pages Google.’ I am of course referring to a top 5 listing on the first page of Google for natural organic searches.
Google Web Page SEO Secrets Of Listing On Google First Page # 5 SEO Page Domination
If as already discussed, we know that online buyers are 4 to 6 times more likely to purchase products and services from a natural organic first page on Google. And we know that customers have more confidence in companies placing in natural search engine placement then it makes good business sense to try and dominate the organic rankings.
The very best way to dominate the search engine rankings is to employ the services of a professional business writer who is trained and skilled at writing proven successful articles about business products and/or services which have proven successful at dominating the search engine natural organic listings.
Online SEO business writers agree that any article which places 3 times in the top 10 positions on any search engine search page dominates the SEO page.
If this writer can gain high placement on pages Google then it is likely he or she will achieve similar high placement and domination on the other main search engines.
To view how a professional article can achieve SEO page domination cut and paste the following article title; Serious Organised Crime – Financial Scam By The British American Security Expert into Google MSN Bing, Yahoo, Ask or AOL and look at how many times the same article features on the first 3 pages of each search engine page.
As a matter of interest, when I just checked it out for myself, the same article actually placed in the 1st 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12, 13th,14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, & 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 28th, 29th & 30th, place on page 1 to 3.
I think any SEO specialist would consider this as true SEO page domination. It is worth mentioning that very, very few SEO marketing companies can achieve true SEO page domination despite the fact that most will tell you they can.
It’s a highly specialized marketing skill. Now if one places themselves in the mind-set of a prospective customer looking to buy products or services from the British American Security Expert for example, then he or she can only be seriously impressed at this SEO page domination.
It is worth mentioning that I am only advocating an ethical and legitimate method of dominating the organic rankings by virtue of specialized article writing and submission designed to appear multiple times on the Google results page.
Some SEO companies try to circumvent the search engine rankings by implementing unethical processes known in the SEO business as Black Hat techniques. Attempting to implement any Black Hat techniques will result all of the main search engines black listing your business.
It is exceptionally difficult to get your online business back on track once the search engines have black listed you.
